rc1: Rattan Cutter.

Kayanic Dayak complex. Borneo Island, Indonesia.
Hardwood, metal: Height of wood sculpture only: 14.25" (36.2 cm).
Small wood sculpture of a guardian spirit standing on top of the head of another guardian animal spirit.
The object has two metal blades placed to cut long strips of rattan into thinner pieces. It is unclear if this was the original intention of this sculpture.
It is unlike other rattan cutters used by the Kayanic people and I suspect this object was repurposed for this new use.
