ds3: Shield.

Dayak. Borneo Island, Indonesia.
Wood, shells, hair. H: 54.5” (138.4 cm), W: 13” (33 cm).

Very interesting type with protective faces in the middle and at each end, created with shells and hair from headhunting trophy heads.
The faces at the top and bottom have carved mouths (hard to see under the hair). The hair for the top third of the shield goes in the direction
of that face, while the middle and bottom hair goes in that direction.

Ex: Jack Sadovnic collection.
