4560: Pig Killing Spear

Iban Dayak. Sarawak State, Borneo Island, Malaysia.
Hardwood. H: 55.5” (141 cm), wood staff only H: 42.5" (108 cm).

A rare short shaft spear used for ritual killing of pigs (or wild boars) for divination ceremonies or feasts.
The shaft is finely carved, including a faux vine like pattern wrapping around one section.
The surface has a beautfiul rich black polished patina.
