Kenyah Dayak. East Kalimantan, Borneo Island, Indonesia.
Light wood, particle board, pigments, H: 20.75" (52.7 cm), W: 26" (66 cm), D: 2" (5.1 cm).
Classic Kenyah style "godly" mask, meant to hang on the wall. The main face is carved from light wood,
while the attached ear sections are carved from a type of particle board that was purchased from outside the village.
This was likely created in the late 20th century, when access to commerical products of this type would be easily available.
While later than other items offered, this mask still has all of the classic elements and expression of the earlier examples.
