2678M: Male Ancestral Figure.

Ngaju or Ot Danum Dayak. Central Kalimantan, Borneo Island, Indonesia.
Hardwood, pigments. H: 39" (99 cm).
The male figure of a pair of sculptures representing (with 2678F) the clan or village founders.
The male holds a small box, possibly for betel nut supplies.
Both figures were part of a small house like structure or ancestral shrine.
Parts of the backs of each figure were cut away to accommodate structural elements.
