2678F: Female Ancestral Figure.

Ngaju or Ot Danum Dayak. Central Kalimantan, Borneo Island, Indonesia.
Hardwood, pigments. H: 43" (109 cm).
The female figure of a pair of sculptures representing (with 2678M) the clan or village founders.
The female holds three hornbill feathers that are pressed against her chest.
Both figures were part of a small house like structure or ancestral shrine.
Parts of the backs of each figure were cut away to accommodate structural elements.
