2470: Ceremonial Mask.

Kenyah Dayak. Borneo Island, Indonesia.
Wood, pigments. H: 22.5" (57 cm), W: 17" (43 cm), D: 5.25" (13.5 cm).
.
Mask representing a Kenyah "godly" face with unual ears that resemble long leaves.
This clearly Kenyah mask was found in an Iban longhouse and was likely once part of
war booty or a trade item. The wood is heavier and thicker than most Kenyah masks, which
like most Kayanic masks are typically carved from lighter woods.
