Worn by South Nias women of high rank for ceremonial occasions. Yellow beads signify nobility and red beads indicate knowledge of traditional law and customs.
Included is an image of a Nais woman wearing a similar girdle and another image shows a similar example in Museum Nasional Indonesia, collected in 1932.
