Glass seed beads, fibers. Bead panel H: 9" (22.9 cm), W: 12" (30.5 cm). Early to mid 20th century.
Beaded talsmanic panel usually placed on the back of a rattan baby carrier. The motifs were meant to protect the baby as well as show the status of the family.
With single godly face in the middle, colorful double-headed dragon figures in each of the lower corners, stylized dragon heads (in white) at each side of the main face,
and additional smaller motifs of dragons heads in various areas of the background.
The panel is professionally mounted on acid free cloth over museum board. Mount H: 13" (33 cm), W: 16" (40.6 cm).
