3435: Jar-Shaped Shrine.

Ngaju Dayak. Central Kalimantan, Borneo Island, Indonesia.
Hardwood. H: 42" (106.7 cm).
Very rare version of an ancestral shrine carved in the form of a heirloom trade jar ("Martavan").
With motifs of two lizards, a bird, and a mysterious animal on the sides and another animal on the top of the lid (broken and missing the head).
Condition is good and stable overall with some old age cracks and erosion due to outdoor exposure.
