3409: Wood Basket.

Dayak. West Kalimantan, Borneo Island, Indonesia.
Wood, fibers. H: 11.5" (29.2 cm), W: 10.75" (27.3 cm), D: 7.25" (18.4 cm). 19th to early 20th century.
Unusual carry all carved from wood, with three head motifs. The original use is unknown, as it was re-purposed in modern times to carry heavy work tools.
It is possible it had another purpose in the past and the three head motifs suggest a more important use, perhaps to carry trophy heads?
The container shows long regular use and wear. There are many native repaired areas.
