Wood, pigments. L: 23.5" (59.7 cm), H: 10.25" (26 cm), D: 1" (2.54 cm). Early 20th century.
Soul ship, painted on a wood board, for the spirits of the dead. The board "mamapas pali", becomes the deceased spirit's residence until the final death ritual,
"tiwah" is performed. The ship, in the form of a sacred dragon, holds a ritual hut with gongs and heirloom jars, open sail, and deities at the stem and stern.
